I don't think that is what he is doing at all. I think the cable is just for charging. Most of us creating videos, record the video with a camera, and use screen capture to grab the screen+ sound. You then delete the sound from the camera video and merge in the sound from the screen capture. I wold not use the audio cable to send the sound to your mac. I would use IDAM which allows you to send audio/midi to a mac over a charging cable. IDAM is found under Audio MIDI Setup on the mac. You may want to read this FAQ: www.moforte.com/geoShredAssets6500/help/FAQs/index.html#vst WRT getting audio to a PC, because Windows does NOT support audio or MIDI directly over USB, you pretty much need to get a digital interface like an iConnectivity or iRig

Go to "Menu> Store" and you can purchase an upgrade to the functionality of GeoShred Pro. This is called GeoShred Play+Pro and is identical to Pro.

I'm trying to understand your question. If you create an instance of the GeoShred AUv3 plugin, then depending on the DAW you should be able to record GeoShred as MIDI coming from a MIDI keyboard. Note that a conventional MIDI keboard is not ideal because it has no means to provide 3D expression control. An MPE controller is a better choice. And the GeoShred Keyboard is the best choice. This is highly dependent on the DAW. What DAW are you using?

@@GeoShred I have a Reaper DAW and a midi keyboard with round midi in and midi out plugins on it and a win 10 pc. I guess with a Midi to Usb adapter, althought sensless, because MPE features should be lost than, it shoud be possible to connect a keyboard with geoshred to play it over keyboard. Thats not my goal. I thought, maybe with such a setup, geoshred could send midi to keyboard than the keyboard would send it to reaper daw where its assigned on a track to record midi notes? My goal is to use geoshred somehow on a win 10 pc as a midicontroller with MPE features for reaper daw through ipad plugged into win 10 pc over light to usb A adapter cable? Or if I would have studiomax installed on win pc additionaly, the pc would recognise the ipad as midi device so that it could be intergrated into reaper as typical midi device? Are the mentioned approaches somehow possible? Or is there maybe something else possible?

@@chrwrd2960 It sounds like you want to use GeoShred on an iOS device as a MIDI controller into Reaper on your windows 10 machine. Have you looked at our FAQ about this: www.moforte.com/geoShredAssets6500/help/FAQs/index.html#vst I think at this point studiomux is no longer working. Windows does not support MIDI over USB natively so you need a hardware interface like an iConnect or something from iRig.

@@chrwrd2960 You can use any MIDI interface that will support MIDI In/Out from an iOS/iPadOS device. I wil read the manual for the interface verify if it supprorts iOS/iPadOS devices. I personally use an iConnectivity Audiio4+

You do not need to upgrade Play to the functionality of Pro (Play+Pro) or purchase Pro (Green Icon). Simply go to Menu> Store and you will see all the instruments available as either individual instruments or collections. If you do later decide to upgrade to the functionality of Pro (Play+Pro) you get MIDI, iCloud preset synching, preset editing and AUv3 plugin support.

Yes, GeoShred is an app and an AUv3 plugin. You can use it in iOS plugin hosts like Logic, GarageBand, AUM, etc, etc.

The "User Presets" setlist is a setlist of presets that you create, and NOT a preset of ALL OWNED INSTRUMENTS. That being said, preset navigation is no longer "All Presets" which was an ordered pool of presets. You can navigate by setlist:preset . Or by bank:program. And you can skip the instrument setlists that you don't own. The DO NOT OWN THIS INSTRUMENT YET GO TO STORE is not gone, That is a contractional requirement coming from our partners Audio Modeling (creator of SWAM) and AcellMatrix (Creator of Naada). Also you have always been able to create a setlist of the presets that you want to use at your gig using the setlist editor (Menu> Setlist"). A setlist for a gig will respond to simple program change. Also unlike banks, setlists can have multiple instances of the same preset. 1) Guitar 2) Flute, 3) Sax, 4) Guitar 5) Flute 6) Guitar ... A sequence of presets changes tailored for the set that you are playing.

You caught us! Yes I took a short cut and used the video from the Geoshred Studio running on the mac. We go into Beta 2 next week with the goal of shipping in July.

However the Surface touchscreen latency can be poor. We measured 310 ms on an ASUS surface. It needs to be more like 10ms to 20ms. Touch screen latency is really not a function of how fast the device is. It's related to buffering in the the hardware/software path between the touch screen and the CPU. We don't see that hardware manufacturers have any incentive to improve this to reach the level of performance found on iOS devices.

I will add this to our medium term list. At the present time it's too computationally complex to compute all the reeds needed for a harmonica.

@@GeoShred I never really thought about the fact that each note is a different reed. It's too bad you can't model one reed and then transpose it (but I know absolutely nothing about the underlying technology).

@@jamietopolski4019 If you did that it would be monophonic. You could just use the GeoClarinet with growl and finger pitch bend to do that. However what makes a real harmonica sound awesome is that chords are being played on it, and the different notes in the chords are bending differently and all the reeds are cross coupling and affecting each other. I will think on this one, but at the moment there is a technological limitation.

The hetrogenous layout of conventional keyboards makes it all but impossible to support 3 dimensions of expression. For instance KeyY slide on a white key is prone to triggering the black keys. We may offer a "Uniform" keyboard in the near future. This would be similar to the layout of the Roli Seaboard.

Really appreciate your response. Can we currently play geoshred instrument on seaboard 5d ipad app via internal midi? I tried but couldn't setup. I wanted to play naada sarangi on seaboard 5d ipad app. Is this possible?

@@JaidevCGartist Seaboard 5D does not send MIDI. I tried it and it does not send out MIDI at all. So it's not possible to use it to control anything.

​@@chrwrd2960 It works fine on 6th generation iPad. However you should really be running the latest version of iPadOS (iPad OS 17). Apple will change the app store this month so that the minimum version of iOS/iPadOS to download apps will be iOS 14. I'm not sure what the '*' means on the list, but it may mean that the current version of iOS/iPadOS is that last update that it will support. The 6th generation iPad was released 6 years ago, and it would not be surprising if it will not support the newer version of iOS/iPadOS (18) which should release in Sept/2024. All iOS/iPadOS devices that can run iOS/iPadOS 14 or greater will work. The only difference being that more powerful devices can run more instances of the GeoShred AUv3 Plugin in a DAW.

Possibly if you practice I have an iPhone X Max with 3D touch and it works well. The iPad is really excellent it works well.

Lumikeys and K-Board will get you there cheaper (if maybe not always as fluidly in practice), or spring $400 for the little Seaboard Block. Or for $400 more than the Rise you can get the truly awesome-sounding, well-built Osmose.

@@qwe1231 We have an application note for how to setup the all three of the KMI MPE controllers: ua-cam.com/video/Wk0L5ji9Cg8/v-deo.html However, the GeoShred Keyboard is included at no extra cost ;-) It's 3D, pitch fluid, sampled at a rate higher than MIDI and has Magic Pitch Rounding so that you can play in tune in the current temperament. The Seaboard, the Continuum and the LinnStrument have pitch rounding, but due to the low power embedded processors in thes devices it does not work as well as the on screen pitch rounding.

Yes, there are over 720 settings in the system. If you are having problems with sliding, look in GeoShred under "Menu> Model & FX> Perform". Make sure that "Slide" mode is turned on. It should be turned on by default. You can reach us directly at support@moforte.com

That's not normal and we have never seen this problem. I don't have enough context to understand the problem. Is this for playing the built in GeoShred Instruments, or is this for MIDI Out? I think it might make sense for you to reach out to us directly at support@moforte.com. We will ask you for some diagnostic info so that we can figure out what is going on .

The GeoShred Instruments are all Physics based Models (Physical Models). The full piano is beyond the computational ability of most devices at the present time. That being said, there is nothing to stop you from using MIDI Out to control a nice piano on your iPad.

MIDI Out Control is not a sound, it's a MIDI Out preset, in this case being used to control iSymphonic.

@@GeoShred it is in the list of sounds on my GeoShred software. ...listed as a sound. Clearly it isn't a sound. but that's how you change it. you choose a different "sound" from the sound list. Why confuse everyone? I don't know. I didn't write the software, but that is exactly where it is.

@@RebellionFreedom Ok. you are probably talking about "All Presets". These are not necessarily sounds. They are presets for what you can create in the preset editor, which is a combination of DSP Blocks and Control. A preset does not need to have any DSP so it would not make sound it is a pure MIDI Out preset. That is what MIDI Out Control is. It's found in the setlist (bank) "MIDI Out". With regard to the list of "sounds", the presets are organized by setlists. There is a setlist called "All Presets" but we don't intend for users to use "All Presets" for work flow. It's just an unordered pool of all the presets. The best way to navigate the presets is by setlist. @GeoShred awesome. Thanks for the explanation. The bottom menu in that section, I never related to the top part as being definitive. Only a category... under which I found my "sounds". I understand better now. Perhaps if they were close together and turned into color changing selection it would help my lost brain. Thank you again.

Over time we will add more. We have polyphonic virtual analog cued up for medium term. What synthesis method would you like to see in GeoShred.

A custom scale lives in a preset. The name of the custom scale is the name of the preset. If you want to use that custom scale in a different preset, at the bottom of the Scale Browser you will find "Custom Scales". You can simply copy one of your custom scales into a new preset with the Scale Browser. You will find that your new scale is available in the "Custom Scales" list and you can add it to any preset, or you can set it globally for all presets.
